The George Washington University Department of Public Health and Health Services has released a study analyzing the costs of being overweight and obese.
According to the study, 60% of the United States population is overweight or obese. The annual cost of being an overweight woman is $524 and being an overweight man $432. An obese woman has a price tag of $4,879 yearly and an obese man $2,646. Woman also may suffer from lost wages because of their weight and the health issues involved.
I have personally witnessed that women are judged more harshly in the workplace and can be affected by lower wages because of their weight and how they look.
