When
I was a kid, we always celebrated Easter with Easter eggs. I loved getting
creative, seeing all the different colored eggs and pretty designs. But, we also
celebrated Passover. (This year it comes up the 19th-27th.) Passover was always
my favorite Jewish holiday because it was about freedom. It reminds us of when
the Jews were slaves in Ancient Egypt, and how they were freed. And every year
on Passover, we pray for freedom for all people in every corner of the globe.
I
have always been a fighter for freedom and social justice. And unfortunately, it
is a cause that never seems to end. But, here's the thing, it starts with
personal freedom. The freedom to be who you are and live the life that you want.
And that is what being an authorpreneur is all about for me. And why I am so
passionate about helping others achieve it.
But,
it isn't easy. For freedom, you need growth, and growth takes struggle. One of
the things Brendon Burchard says in High
Performance Habits is "honor the struggle". I love that because it's so easy
to want to run away from the struggle, but it's an integral part of finding
freedom.
I
used to think if it was hard, then it wasn't the right path for me. But, I
learned the hard way that the only way out is through, and the more you resist
the struggle the harder your life will be, and the more you will struggle. So,
now I accept that struggle leads to growth, that personal development is
ongoing, that there will always be another challenge, and that IS the path.
In
other news...yesterday, Notre Dame burned. I was lucky enough to visit it many
years ago and what you may not know is that I went to graduate school in
architecture and love the old buildings of Europe. This is a very sad thing. I
hope you will join me in prayers that they are able to restore it.
That's
it for now!
