Happy Children's Book Day

Happy Children's Book Day!

image

Thursday, April 2 is Children's Book Day!

When I was a kid, my mom read to me. And I didn't realize growing up what a big impact it had on my life. loved the Nancy Drew stories the best. But more than that, I loved the time that I got to spend with my mom. She wasn't very "mothering". She never hugged me or told me she loved me. But she showed it by reading to me. And that instilled a lifelong love of books and learning.

So, here's to Happy Children's Book Day!

Coronavirus Week 3: It's week 3 of lockdown for us from the coronavirus, and it's been quite a journey so far. I've mastered getting food by looking at the delivery services, planning ahead, and staying on top of it. I had to order food on Sunday to get it delivered this Thursday! But, we couldn't make it with our normal fresh produce until Thursday, so I started looking for other deliveries, and then our angel grocery shopper offered to get us groceries for a second time, so we got them that way. But, we still had to figure out what we'd need by Thursday. It's an ongoing project!

And when you get so much food at one time, then you have to spend hours getting it out of the plastic safely, washing it and putting it way! I was tired before I got to my desk! So, I am running a little late on the podcast and newsletter, but hey, you do the best you can, so bear with me!

Then, yesterday we decided to venture out for the first time to take a walk. We hadn't done it the last two weeks because Christen had a virus, but not that virus. Usually when we walk, the streets are empty. Yesterday, there were people up and down the street and we had to navigate to stay 6 feet away from everyone. And then, I had to think about wiping our shoes off before coming in the house and we forgot to take the Lysol wipes with us. (Note for next time.) I also realized we should keep slip-ons near the front door for when we get back, that way it will be easier to wash our shoes off. So, many new ways of being in the world to learn!

It happened so fast! And it can take time to adapt. But, we don't have time right now. Our lives changed overnight. I know many are resisting the change. (This is perfect for this week, because this week's article is about change!)

Anyway, the longer it takes people to get with the program, the longer it will be until we can get past this. I'm not sure what the new normal will be, but it will be better, so please do your part.

Stay home

Stay calm,

Stay safe!

We'll get through it!
