Heads Up! We've moving! (See below for details!)

Earlier this week, Christen and I were watching the premiere of this season of American Idol. A really cute guy auditioned who had auditioned the year before. The first time, they had picked him to go to Hollywood, but he didn't go. When they asked him why, he said something like he had a lot going on and he used the year as a bootcamp. I got the sense that he thought he could waltz in and would automatically get another card to Hollywood this time too, and they didn't not like his attitude one bit.

After he played his song. Lionel Ritchie told him that he didn't think the guy would make it. Then Ritchie told him that he didn't like the guy. Then, Katie Perry told him that he could be a heart throb but not with that attitude. They thought he was arrogant. When they got done with him, Lionel told him that he hoped the guy had been brought down by the comments and that he would be brought back up with humility. Then, they gave him a second chance at Hollywood.

When it was all over, the guy thanked Lionel Ritchie and told the tv audience that he loved what Ritchie did to him. (Right answer!) The judges liked him a lot more when the guy left than when he had walked through the door.

Be humble.

In business news, I've been studying how to run a business with Suzanne Evans, and I adore her. She is smart, entertaining, and funny as hell, not to mention very successful.

We hadn't spoken in years, but we were "friends" on Facebook. She recently gave a free masterclass, which I took. And when she called on me, the first thing she asked was how my husband was doing. I was floored. I had no idea she remembered who I was, let alone how my husband was doing. One more reason, I adore her! A personal touch goes a long way.

Anyway, to get back to why I decided to take her class. I never really learned how to run a serious business. I always sort of did it by the seat of my pants and did it well enough not to bother to learn it for many years. But I had reached a point where that just didn't work for me any more. It was time.

In fact, I have two coaches right now. My other coach is a funnel coach. Having two coaches was quite a surprise to me because there was a time I was extremely skeptical of coaching. I had spent tens of thousands of dollars and I wasn't where I wanted to be. But, I learned my lesson when I set off to create a podcast; I didn't get any coaching and it took me 18 months of trial and error. Never again!

If my experience saves one person from trying to go it alone, it was worth telling you this. The key is to get really clear about what it is you want to achieve, and then find the person who has done it, has the experience, and can help accelerate the process for you. Work to get the money, beg, or borrow it if you have to (don't steal it though), and I promise you, once you do that, coaching is worth every penny!
