National Avocado Day!


National Avocado Day is Friday, July 31st

People are always surprised at how young both my husband and I look. He's 89 and I'm 67. But, we both eat only organic foods, we almost never eat meat anymore, and we eat a lot of avocados. It's one of our favorite foods, and btw, it's great for your skin. So, it only makes sense that I would pick National Avocado Day to celebrate this week! Plus, Avocados are rich in vitamins, high in fiber and they help lower cholesterol. So, eat up! If you want to be a successful authorpreneur you need to take care of your health!

Tip: As an avocado connoisseur, I can tell you Costco has the best organic avocados; they have the biggest ones too.

Woo-hoo! I've been working with my partner, Jeff J Hunter on rebranding. The first step was moving to Books Open Doors. Now my new logo and marketing materials are finished and I couldn't be more thrilled! Here's the final one logo!

In personal news/Covid info, Christen is recovering slowly from his "espisode". If you missed it he collapsed over a week ago and hit his head. He'll be getting the staples removed this week. We've been in lockdown since 3/13 and the only time I have gone out was to get gas so that I could pick him up from the hospital. The only time he was out was going in the ambulance to the hospital and staying there two days. And I can tell you, sometimes, you have to deal with situations during this Covid pandemic that are not pleasant. In fact, they can be very stressful.

And one thing I learned was that the hospitals don't let you wear the masks we were using P95's because they had a filter but because we could breathe out they didn't protect others. So, I went on Facebook and asked my friends what were the best masks to buy since there are a million of them on Amazon. I was told to get one with a pocket so you can put a filter in it. Also, if you have a mask like I have, you can put a cotton pocket mask over that one. It feels really strange, but it works. Just thought I'd pass this along in case you're dealing with this issue too:)

Article: Amazing Copywriting Tools that Will Improve your Engagement and Sales!

Here are some cool tools that will improve your writing and your conversion rates so that you reach more potential clients and customers and make more sales. And, you can use one or more of them for virtually any project.

Hemingway App

This app will improve your sentence structure by highlighting lengthy complex sentences and common errors and show you how to shorten or split sentences. It also helps to make your writing simpler and easier to understand as it points out issues in your writing.

To use it, drop in your text, follow the colored prompts and voila! You'll get better copy in a snap!

There is a free version, and the paid version is only $19.99 right now, so it's very affordable to any writer.


Grammarly is the best tool to check grammar errors, punctuation, and spelling. I have it and use it all the time. The Grammarly yearly plan is currently $139.95. You can also get a four-month subscription for $59.95. But, if you do a lot of writing and especially if you tend to self-edit, it's worth it.

Headline Analyzer

This free tool helps you tighten up your headlines so they get more engagement or conversion, depending on what you are using it for. It tells you what percentage of your words in your headline are common, uncommon, emotional, and powerful and it scores your headline based on how balanced it is. And once you see your score, you can tweak your title to improve it's effectiveness. It also gives you a readout on what keywords were used in the title. (If you don't see any, then you need to rewrite it to include them.) Very cool!

Funnel Scripts

While the three tools mentioned above help you tweak and improve your writing, Funnel Scripts actually writes copy for you! It is by far the tool that has saved me the most time and money this last year.

It also creates original and time-proven headlines, emails and follow-up sequences, video sales scripts, power points, webinar presentations and more! I use it all the time and love it. It is pricey, but for the amount of time it has saved me having to write copy from scratch (when I need help), or would otherwise hire a copywriter for, it's totally worth it!
